A few weeks ago, DR was traveling to Japan for a one week trip with Venture Travel Magazine, which he’ll write to you soon here. During that one week, I was very busy juggling so many things at the same time. It was such a tormenting week because every time DR post something on his social media account, I was stuck behind my work desk. The most tormenting part was seeing every Japanese food that he ate during that trip, which made me drool and gulp my own saliva!
I promised myself that once this crazy week is over, I am so gonna indulge myself with plates of sashimi and sushi rolls as my self-reward, even though I know that I wouldn’t have the exact fresh and raw version of what DR had in Japan.
Guess what? On the third day of that crazy week, a text came to me from one of my very good friends, Jeni Patty, who is also a blogger. She invited me to a private lunch for 6 at Akira Back Jakarta, which will be featured in Foodies Magazine. Akira Back is an authentic Japanese restaurant opened by international chef @ChefAkiraBack who had gained success and world wide recognition through Kumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar at Mandalay Bay, and the famed Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge in Las Vegas.

I must have done something good that the universe granted my wish this instant. #smilingeartoear
Long story short, I confirmed my availability to Jen.
It was a total highlight of the week for me. Akira Back really spoiled my tummy that day with their signature and famous dishes. The lunch slash photo shoot started with some appetizer like Tuna Pizza and AB Tacos, continued with Sushi & Sashimi Platter, Crispy Rice and some sushi rolls.

After we finished, they served the main course, Short Ribs with Mashed Potato and Caramelized Carrot and a very tasty Seared Foie Grass accompanied by fried Unagi Croquettes, Gochujang Miso and Spiced Acacia Honey! I was feeling mid-bloated as I was halfway finishing the super juicy short ribs.

The team from Akira Back and Foodies Magazine didn’t stop there. They closed the fun luncheon by serving us plates of their favorite desserts: Yuzu Granita, Mini Choco Lava Cakes (this is DA BOMB), Yuzu Cheese Cake, and a super yum Tiramisu. Geesh, food comma was coming faster than I expected.

As fun as it was, every good things has an expiry date. My “best-day-of-the-week” had to come to an end. Big thanks to Akira Back for having me, would love to come back for more of your mouth-watering dishes!
Write to you later,
